South face below Dent du Géant
Spring. It's time to ski south faces.
Hot temperatures transform the snow quickly. After the weekend snowfall we decide to try the south face below the Dent du Geant. It is a great descent which starts below the south face of the Giant's tooth at 3850 m and finish in Planpaincieux 2300 meters below. We reach the descent after the climb of the normal route of dent du Géant (1h30 to 2h30 depending on snow conditions from Pointe Helbronner)
The beginning is sustain 45°/50° where we had bad crust difficult to ski. Then the slopes become wider and less steep with perfect spring snow.
It's time to ski because the snow is smelting quickly in the valley.
